Choir Policies, Procedures and Guidelines

The following procedures and guidelines shall be the policies for the officers and members of the Music Ministry of ECOD.

The officers and members of the Music Ministry must be a born again believer in good standing.  The officers and or members have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and possess a desire to serve God through the Music Ministry.  He/she must abide by the policies of the organization as outlined in the Church By-laws and Articles of Faith.

  1. Minister Of Music

Appointed by the Pastor/President of Evangelistic Church Of Deliverance and voted on annually at the church business meeting

  1. Responsible to the Pastor, Choir Liaison Officer and Church Administrator.
  2. Responsible for the development, nurturing, and direction of all choirs and music presented for worship services.
  • Selection of songs, presentation of song and soloist.
  • Be versatile in selecting members to lead songs, while keeping in minded each singer’s ability.
  • Be prepared to add, delete and/or change songs and arrangements prior or during services at Pastor’s request.
  • Share with the Pastor and Choir President in accepting engagements for the choirs and special services.
  1. Determine the length of practice time and frequency in coordination with the Choir President.
  2. Be available for all choir rehearsals and engagements when practical and possible.  Inform the President, Pastor, Choir Liaison Officer and Church Administrator of all planned and/or emergency absences.
  3. Determine suitability of applicant (s) for the choir.
  4. Attend all regularly scheduled church functions when possible.
  5. Responsible for maintenance of organ, piano, and any other musical instruments or equipment, making recommendations to the Choir Liaison Officer and Church Administrator.
  6. Develop and supervises other musicians.
  7. Serves as a contact person and coordinator for visiting musicians or groups.
  8. Office may be vacated at the request of the President due to lack of performance. Intent to vacate position should be in writing to the Pastor, Choir Liaison Officer and Church Administrator.

  1. Musicians/Directors

  1. Responsible to Minister of Music and Choir President.
  2. Be available for all choir practices and engagements when practical and possible.  Inform the President of all planned and/or emergency absences.
  3. Maintain a list of choir songs and music.

  1. Vice President

  1. Responsible to the Choir President.
  2. Collaborate with the Choir President on choir business matters.
  3. Fulfill the Choir President duties in his/her absence.

  1. Secretary

  1. Responsible to the Choir President.
  2. Record and maintain records of all business meetings.
  3. Provide written and/or telephone notification to other institutions as directed by the President.
  4. Maintain a schedule of all pending engagements.
  5. Maintain attendance record.
  6. Office may be vacated at the request of the President due to lack of performance. Intent to vacate position should be in writing to the President.  The President will select a replacement to satisfy the position.

  1. Treasurer

  1. Responsible to the Choir President.
  2. Record and maintain all financial records
  3. Make a financial report to the choir on a quarterly basis.
  4. Deposit funds.
  5. Disperse monies as directed by the President. 
  6. Office may be vacated at the request of the President due to lack of performance. Intent to vacate position should be in writing to the President.  The President will select a replacement to satisfy the position.

  1. Members

  1. Responsible to the officers of the Music Ministry.
  2. Must be a team member whose main purpose is to glory God and create an atmosphere of harmony and love among the members of the Music Ministry
  3. Must be faithful in service.
  4. Must abide by the procedures and guidelines.

  1. Must be prompt for all services.
  2. Encouraged to attend all regularly scheduled church functions as possible.
  3. A member of the choir may be asked to resign from the choir for actions considered detrimental to the good of the Music Ministry or may at their own choice resign.  All resignations should be in writing.  The President, after coordinating with the Pastor, Choir Liaison Officer and Church Administrator, will initiate all resignations.
  4. A two-third (2/3) of the members vote is required on necessary issues.
