Deaconesss

Even so must their wives be grave not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.

I Timothy 3:11

The role of the Deaconess is to serve the body of Christ.  The purpose of the Deaconess Ministry is to care for and assist the needs of the overall congregation under the spiritual guidance of the Pastor and the Deacons.

 

Qualities

 

  1. Chosen, Christ-like, Consecrated
  2. Sincere, tolerant, kind and understanding
  3. Serious minded and well balanced
  4. Faithful in all things
  5. Know church policies and practices so that all can work in peace and harmony
  6. Support the Pastor and the vision of the ministry

 

Duties

 

  1. Serve when and where needed
  2. Visit the sick, shut-in and  bereaved families
  3. Evangelize within outreach ministries
  4. Assist the Deacons with Communion
  5. Assist in preparing female candidates for baptism

 

Charge

 

Each one has a part to play in serving the world and reconciling it to God.  In order that the ministry might be more effective, God calls all people to serve him full time, and gives some special responsibilities in leadership.  Together we the Deaconesses are united with the Pastor, Ministers, Deacons and members in the ministry of this church.

 

I pray that God will continue to bless this ministry with His presence, leading us by His mercy into all truth and grace and peace.  I charge this sister in the Lord to the office of Deaconess.
